Terms of Espresso Coffee
Barista: is a name
applied to a person, usually a coffeehouse
employee, who prepares and serves
espresso-based coffee drinks.
Espresso
Potential: measure of the perfection of an
espresso.
Macinadosatore:
Coffee grinder and dispenser.
Latte Art:
is a style of pouring steamed milk into a
shot of espresso that creates a pattern or
design on the surface of the resulting
latte.
Macinazione:
The correct grinding of coffee
Miscela: The
coffee blend.
Macchina
espresso: The espresso machine.
Porta-filter:
The minced coffee's container which holds
the filter basket, and which locks into
the group to provide a watertight seal for
the pressurized water to infuse the
coffee.
Tamper: is a
device for pressing the coffee into the
porta-filter, so for delete all voids in
the coffee.
Brew Time:
is used as one of the indicators of a good
espresso shot.
Dosage:
refers to the amount of ground coffee used
to produce a shot of espresso.
Filter
Basket: is a metal, flat bottomed bowl
shaped insert that fits inside a
portafilter.
